How I help
German tutor for GCSE and secondary school support
Whether your teenager needs a confidence boost in class, steady support with the school syllabus, or focused help from an experienced native German tutor to aid fluency and pronunciation, lessons are shaped around their level, pace, and learning needs.
German for teenagers at secondary school
Ongoing support for teenagers studying German at secondary school, whatever stage they’re at.
Depending on what they need most, we work on speaking and pronunciation, vocabulary, or grammar — so classwork, homework, and exams all feel more manageable.
German GCSE exam prep
Lessons are tailored and follow AQA or Edexcel requirements. We focus on the skills that matter most: fluent speaking, accurate writing, sharper listening, and the exam technique to tie it together.
Correcting a repeated grammar mistake can make a real difference — a few ready sentence starters and a clear mental checklist help them feel prepared and avoid losing easy marks.
GCSE prep for bilingual and heritage speakers
For teenagers who already hear or speak German at home, lessons focus on the written side. We tidy up grammar, fix common spelling mistakes, work on translation, and look at the extra vocabulary the GCSE asks for. It’s about building on what already comes naturally to them, and knowing what earns marks so they can double-check their work in the exam.
Who your teen will learn with
I’m Jacqueline — a native German speaker and mother of two bilingual children, a teenager and a pre-teen. I’ve sat at the kitchen table helping my own teenager revise for their German GCSE, and both my children have attended German Saturday school for years — so I know first-hand that even when a parent speaks fluent German, teens don’t always want to hear it from Mum or Dad. Sometimes it takes someone outside the family for it to click. Read more →

FAQ
Questions from parents
A warm, structured approach designed to build confidence, fluency, and stronger results.
Who are these lessons for?
Teenagers at secondary school studying German — whether they need steady support with the school syllabus, a confidence boost, or focused GCSE preparation. I also work with bilingual and heritage speakers who already have German at home and want to build on it.
Do you help with GCSE German?
Yes. I tutor for GCSE German (AQA and Edexcel). Rather than trying to cover everything, I focus on the grammar and skills that make the real difference to a student’s marks, and shape lessons around where your teen is and what they find hardest.
Can you support bilingual teenagers?
Absolutely — it’s something I understand first-hand as the mother of two bilingual children. Teenagers who already speak German at home have a real head start; lessons focus on turning that into accurate reading and writing, and on the vocabulary and grammar needed for the GCSEs.
Where do lessons take place?
In person across North, Central and South West London, or online — whichever works best for your teen. We can talk through the options at a free consultation.
Are online lessons available?
Yes. Teens often find online lessons fit well around school and other commitments, and they work just as well for GCSE support. In-person lessons are also available across North, Central and South West London — we can find what suits your family best.
How long and how often are lessons?
I recommend a weekly 60-minute lesson — enough to build real momentum without crowding out schoolwork. As GCSEs approach, we can step things up if needed. We’ll find the right rhythm at the free consultation.
What happens at the free consultation?
We have a relaxed chat — by phone or video — about your teen’s level, what they’re covering at school, and what they find hardest. If it feels like a good fit, we arrange a first lesson. There’s no pressure and no obligation.
